Job Title: Project Manager (Workday)
Location: Gent, Belgium
Project: Implement Workday across the entire group.
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Freelance (9 months+)
Remote Work: 3 days per week onsite, 2 days remote work per week.
About the Client:
Our client is a leading, growing and innovative food group who operate across Europe.
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Project Lead to implement Workday across the group, there are experts everywhere on the project in their specific field, but they need a Project Lead with experience implementing Workday to bring them all together, co-ordinate the senior key internal experts, implementors and workday themselves, listen to them, find their problems or what could be improved, offer a quick solution and implement this in order for a quick, smooth and efficient go-live (1st go live in January 2026).
Key Responsibilities:
- Join an ongoing project to implement Workday across the group. Immediately step in to co-ordinate, workday is already implemented amongst the HR team and is being simplified/specified to the clients needs and being prepared for a group wide rollout (1st go-live is January 2026).
- Work closely with the implementor and Workday themselves, as well as C-level staff, the key-stakeholders (the HR group and HR site leads across Europe – this is a very senior team of experts who know what they are doing but are unfamiliar with Workday), as well as end-users to prepare them for the go-live.
- The key stakeholders are the essential members of the team driving the project of the go-live and you need to facilitate support to them, the HR team are all experts in their specific fields but are unfamiliar with workday, as a result you should go in and pro-actively speak to them, understand their role and how they see themselves in the project, listen to their issues and find solutions with them to improve the speed of the project, implement these to support them ensuring a quick, smooth and efficient go-live for January 2026. Again workday is implemented in the HR teams, but they are still getting familiar with it.
- See the big picture, work with the experts in their specific HR field and keep a helicopter view on the project to bring it all together. There are experts in workday from the implementor and workday who you can utilise, but familiarity in workday is needed.
- The go-live of the project is 2026, so you immediately need to go in and ensure the project is set up for a quick, smooth and efficient go-live – then once the 1st go-live is complete, you will co-ordinate the implementation and go-live across the group (Europe wide).
- Put yourself in the end-users shoes of the end-user and see workday from their perspective, understand how it looks for them and get them prepared for the change (change management).
- Prepare training, communication, change management for the go-live to be smooth for the end users and everyone involved for January.
- Ensure there is support for everyone on the project. Pro-actively speak to the people involved in the project, find out what could be better for them to make the project easier and quicker, listen to them, support them and find a solution and follow up to implement this. Pro-activeness is key, do not be a dictator but support the experts and co-ordinate the total project.
- Example : they had a meeting with the HR personnel this week who are working on the project, asked them what could be better, they said they needed more training, better consultants from the implementor as well as implementing quick on the phone support when they had quick questions to speed up the learning of the software, and they’ve already implemented this.
- The modules being implemented are core workday, learning management, performance management, goals objectives and white-collar recruitment.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience implementing workday as a project lead/manager.
- Experience leading HR projects with good familiarity of Workday.
- English and French speaking.
