Job Title:Â Freelance Project Engineer (Piping/Electrical)
Number of Vacancies: 2
Location:Â Leuven, Belgium
Project: Multiple ranging projects for new tool implementation in an R&D cleanroom lab facility
Start Date:Â ASAP
Contract Type:Â Freelance (12 months+)
Â
About the Client:
Our client is a globally operating research-led organization at the forefront of technological development, working across multiple high-tech domains including data-driven systems, health technologies, and advanced materials and manufacturing.
Role Overview:
We are seeking 2x experienced project engineers to work on a portfolio of projects relating to the implementation of new tools into the R&D cleanroom facility. Being pro-active and taking ownership of their projects (varying in size and complexity) focussing on the piping and electrical aspects needed for the new tools.
Â
Key Responsibilities:
- You will act as the Project Engineer (Piping and Electrical disciplines) overseeing a portfolio of project (5-10 projects simultaneously) from a technical point of view, as well as planning and driving the projects in an Agile/Lean way.
- The projects relate to new tools being implemented into an R&D cleanroom facility. The tools range in size & complexity and thus resulting in different specifications and piping/electrical needs. Smaller projects are typically less complex and take a matter of weeks, larger/more complex projects can take 9 months +.
- All tools being implemented will vary, the piping and electrical works relates to gas lines, water lines, drain lines, low voltage electrical wiring etc.. (all electrical work is low voltage, typically ranging from 208 to 400 volts).
- You will be given general guidelines, specifications and standards for piping and electrical works to follow per tool (different tools require different needs such as changing material, number of pipes/wires, voltage etc..)
- This is not an execution role, there are sub-contractors who do the work that you oversee technically and plan together with their project managers.
- P&ID drawings are made by the sub-contractors, you will perform design reviews and ensure they meet standards and specifications. Each project can change these drastically so the role is varied.
- During design reviews, if there are iterations needed you must be pro-active and work in an agile/lean fashion. Have a quick 1 hour meeting with the subcontracts, explain what needs to be changed and leave them to change it, then review iterated drawings until you are happy before following the execution.
- Your role will spend half the time in the lab, following up on the work by the subcontractors, ensuring the work is being executed as planned.
- In the lab, look at piping pathways for other/new projects, ensure quality standards are being met, discuss with subcontractors technically in the lab, provide technical advice.
- Utilise project management skills to drive the project, plan/organise etc.. this is not a people management job, but project ownership is key ensuring your projects are delivered according to specifications, quality standards and on time.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience as a Project Engineer/Technical Project Manager.
- Experience with either Piping or Electrical disciplines.
- Experience working on projects in production environments (cleanroom/pharma experience is a bonus).
- Fluent English.
