Freelance Product Manager – Pensions (Dutch Speaking)
Employment type: Freelance (12 months)
Sector: Financial Services
Location: Amsterdam (1-2 days/week on-site)
Hours: 36 hours per week
The role
In this role you will be responsible for improving group pension products and the way they are experienced by customers, with a strong emphasis on digital journeys and online processes. You take a practical, delivery-focused approach and work closely with colleagues across the organisation to turn regulatory change, customer needs and operational insights into concrete product and communication updates.
Rather than setting long-term strategy, your focus is on making things work better in practice: simplifying flows, clarifying communication and ensuring products remain compliant, competitive and customer-friendly throughout their lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Owning and managing group pension products from initial customer insight through to implementation, maintenance and after-sales support.
- Ensuring customer interests are central to all product decisions, in line with PARP requirements.
- Interpreting new and existing legislation and regulation — particularly the Future of Pensions Act and SFDR — and translating this into clear internal policies, processes and understandable customer documentation.
- Identifying risks, opportunities and regulatory impacts and converting these into tangible improvements to products and communications, both digital and non-digital.
- Working with Agile delivery teams to define, assess and prioritise requirements for product and online flow enhancements, enabling efficient and timely implementation.
- Proactively monitoring the product and service chain and addressing issues raised by risk, compliance and control functions.
- Collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, including Sales, Marketing, IT/Change and specialist departments such as Legal, Compliance, Risk, Tax and senior management, to drive solutions forward.
What we are looking for
- HBO+/WO level of thinking and working.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in the Dutch pensions sector.
- A strong customer-oriented mindset, with the ability to assess the impact of product and communication changes on both employers and participants.
- A pragmatic, hands-on professional who focuses on execution and delivery rather than high-level strategy.
- Experience with digital customer journeys, online platforms or process optimisation is highly desirable.
- Proactive, collaborative and comfortable operating in a complex stakeholder environment.
- Resilient under pressure, adaptable and strongly focused on achieving results.
- Fluent written and spoken Dutch; good command of English is a plus.
- Solid knowledge of pension products and their practical application within a broader portfolio.
- Detailed knowledge of the Future of Pensions Act and/or SFDR is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Agile and SAFe ways of working.
