Private Sector Housing Officer

About the role:

• Job Title: Private Sector Housing Officer

• Temporary, Full Time

• £50.00 p/h umbrella

• Location: Essex 

• Contract Length: 6 months 

• Closing Date: 15th January 2026

Responsibilities:

• The council are looking for a Housing Practitioner to work in the Private Sector Housing Team undertaking inspection and enforcement work.

• The Authority welcomes applications from both Technical Officers and EHOs with relevant Housing Enforcement or Licensing experience.

• Full-time hours are preferred, but strong part-time candidates will still be considered.

The experience you will bring:

• Extensive knowledge of Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)
• Broad knowledge of the Housing Act 2004
• Experience inspecting residential and multi-occupied properties, including fire safety compliance
• HHSRS qualification is essential
