Principal Conservation Officer – Interim Role – Northwest
Contract length: 6 months
Start date: Within 2–4 weeks
Rate: £45–£50 per hour
Office presence: Hybrid, with a minimum of one day per week in the office and site visits as necessary
Vivid Resourcing are currently working with a borough council in Burnley who are looking to bring in an interim Principal Conservation Officer as part of continued service improvement within their planning team.
The role will involve leading on complex heritage casework, providing expert input into major applications, supporting regeneration projects, and advising on design quality.
The successful candidate will also mentor junior staff and work closely with planning, regeneration, and enforcement teams.
Applicants must have substantial senior-level experience in conservation within a UK local authority, a strong understanding of heritage legislation and design principles, and confidence handling major, sensitive and strategic heritage matters.
