Vivid Resourcing are working with a Local Authority in the North West to appoint a Locum Planning & Highways Solicitor. The council is seeking an experienced planning lawyer to provide specialist support within a small legal team, offering a high level of autonomy and flexibility.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Locum Planning & Highways Solicitor to join a Local Authority on an initial 3-month contract, with strong potential for extension. You will act as the sole planning lawyer within the team, providing end-to-end legal support on a wide range of planning and highways matters.
The role is fully remote, with attendance required once per month for committee meetings. The council is open to full-time or part-time working arrangements, making this a highly flexible opportunity for an experienced locum.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the sole legal adviser on planning and highways matters within the authority.
Draft, negotiate, and advise on s106s, s278s, s38s, etc
Support planning committees, including attendance at monthly committee meetings.
Manage a varied planning caseload autonomously while delivering pragmatic, solution-focused advice.
Requirements
Qualifications / Skills & Experience
UK Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEX.
Ability to work independently as the sole planning lawyer.
Strong communication skills with the ability to advise officers clearly and confidently.
Comfortable working in a fully remote environment with minimal supervision.
Essential
Local authority experience in planning and highways law.
Experience supporting or advising planning committees.
