Vivid Resourcing are currently working with a local authority seeking to appoint an interim Planning Enforcement Officer to support their Development Management and Enforcement team.

The role will focus on managing a caseload of approximately 60 enforcement cases, undertaking initial investigations into alleged breaches of planning control, and determining whether formal enforcement action is required. Responsibilities will include reviewing complaints, conducting site visits, gathering evidence, and liaising with property owners, complainants, and internal planning colleagues to assess potential breaches.

The successful candidate will be responsible for applying relevant planning legislation and enforcement powers, preparing and issuing Planning Enforcement Notices, Breach of Condition Notices, and other formal notices where appropriate. You will also be expected to maintain accurate case records, prepare reports, and progress cases in line with planning enforcement procedures and statutory requirements.

Applicants should have previous experience working in planning enforcement within a local authority, a strong understanding of planning legislation and enforcement processes, and the ability to manage a varied caseload while progressing investigations efficiently. Experience conducting site visits and handling enforcement cases from investigation through to formal action will be beneficial.
