Planner – Town Planning
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 + benefits
Working Pattern: Hybrid
The Opportunity
I’m currently working with a highly regarded multi-disciplinary property consultancy that is looking to appoint a Planner to join its growing Birmingham planning team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a planner looking to develop their career within a commercially focused consultancy, working alongside experienced planning professionals and wider property specialists.
You’ll be exposed to a diverse portfolio of projects across sectors including residential, commercial, retail, healthcare, automotive & roadside, strategic land and mixed-use development.
The Role
As a Planner, you will play an important role in delivering planning advice and supporting projects from initial feasibility through to applications and delivery.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and supporting the preparation of planning applications and appeals.
- Liaising with local planning authorities, clients, consultants and third parties.
- Providing planning advice across a varied portfolio of development projects.
- Undertaking planning research, policy assessments and site appraisals.
- Preparing reports, planning statements and written recommendations.
- Attending client meetings, site visits, consultations and planning committees.
- Supporting project delivery within agreed timescales and budgets.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across planning and other property disciplines.
- Developing strong client relationships and contributing to business development opportunities.
- Keeping up to date with changes to planning policy, legislation and best practice.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
- Ideally RTPI accredited and working towards MRTPI, or already MRTPI qualified.
- Previous experience within a planning consultancy, developer or related environment.
- Good knowledge of the UK planning system and relevant legislation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise workloads effectively.
- A commercial mindset and genuine interest in property and development.
- Ambition to progress and take on increasing responsibility.
