Role Overview
The company is seeking a freelance Network Security Engineer to strengthen its IT infrastructure and cybersecurity posture. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing network security using Aruba and Fortinet technologies, ensuring compliance with internal and external security standards. This is a hybrid position, offering 3–4 days per week of remote work.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and manage secure network infrastructures across multiple environments.
• Configure, monitor, and maintain Aruba wireless networks and Fortinet firewalls.
• Oversee VPN solutions, network segmentation, and access control policies.
• Proactively identify and mitigate network vulnerabilities and threats.
• Collaborate with IT, OT, and cybersecurity teams to ensure aligned network operations.
• Support compliance initiatives with frameworks such as ISO 27001 and NIS2.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and procedures.
• Provide incident response and troubleshooting support for network-related issues.
Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Network or Security Engineer.
• Proven hands-on experience with Aruba (ClearPass, AirWave, Central, or similar) and Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer).
• Strong knowledge of routing, switching, VLANs, and firewall management.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools and incident response practices.
• Excellent understanding of network security principles and best practices.
• Strong communication skills in English and Dutch (spoken and written).
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Desirable:
• Experience with compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIS2, or CIS Controls.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Fortinet NSE, Aruba Certified Mobility Professional, CCNP Security, or similar).
• Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
