We are looking for 4 Mechanical Engineer contractors for a shutdown project on a gas pipeline involving the removal and replacement of valves, installation of new pipe sections, and terminal valve upgrades.
Role Summary
Mechanical Engineers will support and oversee shutdown activities related to cutting out existing pipeline valves, welding in new valves and pipe spools, and completing associated terminal valve replacement works. The role involves coordination with construction, welding, inspection, and safety teams to ensure execution in compliance with French codes, project specifications, and safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Support planning and execution of shutdown scope on the gas pipeline.
- Review and verify isometric drawings, weld procedures (WPS), method statements, and engineering documentation.
- Ensure correct fit-up, alignment, and tolerances for large-diameter pipeline installations.
- Provide on-site mechanical engineering support during cutting, preparation, welding, and installation phases.
- Project-specific welding procedures and client specifications
- Support qualification and verification of welding procedures and personnel.
- Work closely with construction, operations, and commissioning teams during shutdown window.
- Assist with sequencing, risk assessments, and work pack execution.
- Monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and support safe delivery within schedule.
- Support mechanical works associated with valve replacements within terminal facilities.
- Ensure integration with existing piping systems and operational requirements.
- Participate in pressure testing, reinstatement, and handover activities.
- Promote strong safety culture in line with French regulations.
- Ensure compliance with ATEX and gas transmission safety requirements.
Profile
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience in oil & gas, gas transmission, or pipeline shutdown projects.
- Proven experience with large-diameter pipeline works (36”–48” preferred).
- Experience with valve removal/replacement and welded pipeline installations.
- Strong knowledge of pipeline welding, fabrication, and installation.
- Familiarity with French engineering and welding standards.
- Understanding of QA/QC, NDT, and pressure testing requirements.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometrics, and construction drawings.
