Mechanical Engineer – Biomass Plant (Contract, Outside IR35)
Location: Near Fife, Scotland
Contract Length: 12 Months

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a biomass plant overhaul project based near Fife. This role offers the chance to take a leading position within a major maintenance and upgrade programme, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of works.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and promote a strong safety culture across all site activities.
- Act as Discipline Lead or Work Package Manager for mechanical works.
- Scope, prepare, and plan overhaul tasks ahead of execution.
- Manage delivery safely, on time, and within budget.
- Support planning and cost tracking activities.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to commission and return the plant to service safely.
About You
- HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering (degree advantageous).
- Strong HSE mindset and proven experience in the energy or process industry.
- Knowledge of fuel handling systems and conveyor equipment.
- Experience with bearings, lubrication systems, slewing devices, and drag chains beneficial.
- Confident user of Microsoft Office and SAP (or similar systems).
- Flexible, proactive, and a strong team player.
