For a global manufacturing customer in Ghent, we are searching for a freelance Maintenance Technician to support production operations at their plant. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for responding to machine and line breakdowns, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical faults, and ensuring minimal downtime of production equipment.
The role requires strong hands-on electrical and mechanical knowledge, the ability to read and interpret technical documentation, and the flexibility to intervene quickly when issues arise on the production line.
Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to breakdowns or faults on production lines and machinery
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues on machines and installations
- Analyze faults and determine corrective actions, including setting up backup systems or alternative solutions when required
- Read, understand, and work from electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical drawings
- Diagnose issues related to electric motors, sensors, actuators, and control components
- Perform mechanical repairs such as adjustments, replacements, and alignments
- Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities
- Communicate clearly with production teams to ensure safe and efficient interventions
- Carry and respond to a company phone during shifts to handle urgent technical issues
- Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures within the plant
Profile
- Solid understanding of electrical motors and how they operate
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics
- Knowledge of sensors, switches, relays, and basic control components
- Experience in electrical fault finding and troubleshooting in an industrial environment
- Good mechanical knowledge related to industrial machinery
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical failures
- Experience with basic mechanical systems such as drives, bearings, and assemblies
