Licensing Officer – Nottinghamshire Local Authority
Contract: 6 months (with potential for extension)
Start Date: ASAP
A local authority in Nottinghamshire is seeking an experienced Licensing Officer to provide interim support to their Environmental Health & Licensing team. This role will focus on ensuring compliance with licensing legislation and safeguarding the local community.
Key Responsibilities
Process and determine a range of licence applications (e.g. alcohol, entertainment, taxis, animal welfare, street trading) in accordance with statutory requirements
Carry out inspections and compliance visits to licensed premises and vehicles
Investigate complaints and alleged breaches of licence conditions, taking enforcement action where appropriate
Provide advice and guidance to applicants, licence holders, and the general public on licensing matters
Prepare reports and evidence for committee hearings or legal proceedings as required
About You
Proven experience working within licensing, ideally in a local authority environment
Strong knowledge of licensing legislation (Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, taxi/animal welfare licensing, etc.)
Ability to manage a varied caseload independently and effectively
Confident communicator with strong stakeholder and customer service skills
Flexible approach with willingness to work on-site across the district as required
