A local authority in the South West is seeking an experienced Repairs Manager to join their property services team on an interim basis. This role presents a fantastic opportunity for a driven and capable professional with a strong track record in delivering large-scale repair and maintenance operations within housing or property settings.
Role Overview:
Take charge of the responsive repairs function, overseeing a blended workforce of in-house operatives (approx. 70%) and third-party contractors to ensure timely, high-quality outcomes.
Deliver and manage complex repair works across a wide-ranging housing stock, ensuring full adherence to health and safety, legal compliance, and quality assurance standards.
Administer and monitor a repairs budget in the region of £12 million, ensuring optimal use of staffing, materials, and other resources.
Lead procurement activity and oversee contract management processes, ensuring that external providers meet service expectations.
Bring technical knowledge in areas such as building maintenance, property compliance, and housing-related regulations.
Provide clear direction and leadership to managers, supervisors, and operational teams, with regular on-site engagement to support performance improvement and service delivery.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience managing multi-million-pound budgets (approx. £10m+) within a housing or property maintenance context.
A proven ability to lead and develop responsive repair services, including internal teams and contracted suppliers.
Strong contract management skills with a background in service commissioning and performance monitoring.
Confidence working in a dynamic environment, demonstrating decisive leadership and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
