Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team to formulate and execute the overall business strategy.
- Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to support growth, profitability, and operational efficiency.
- Lead the development of long-term financial plans and annual budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and PE investor expectations.
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):
- Oversee robust financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
- Drive the production of insightful management information and performance dashboards for the Board, CEO, and PE investors.
- Conduct deep-dive commercial analysis to identify key performance drivers, risks, and opportunities.
- Financial Control & Operations:
- Ensure the integrity of financial reporting, overseeing the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (IFRS/UK GAAP).
- Strengthen and maintain a robust internal control environment, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Manage treasury, cash flow, and working capital optimisation.
- Oversee all aspects of the finance function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax.
- Private Equity Relationship Management:
- Act as the primary finance contact for the Private Equity investors, managing reporting requirements, responding to ad-hoc requests, and presenting financial performance.
- Support investor relations and ensure transparency and accuracy in all communications.
- M&A and Value Creation:
- Play a key role in any M&A activities, including due diligence, financial modelling, valuation, and post-acquisition integration.
- Identify and drive initiatives to enhance shareholder value, including cost optimisation, revenue growth strategies, and operational improvements.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous professional development.
- Optimise finance team structure and processes to support business growth.
- Risk Management & Compliance:
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring adherence to all legal and regulatory obligations.
- Oversee internal and external audit processes.
Skills & Experience Required
- Qualified Accountant: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification is essential.
- Proven Finance Director Experience: Extensive experience (minimum 5-7 years) in a Finance Director or senior finance leadership role within a dynamic, fast-paced commercial environment.
- Significant Private Equity Exposure: Mandatory prior experience as a Finance Director (or similar) within a Private Equity-backed business, demonstrating a clear understanding of the PE life cycle, value creation levers, reporting demands, and exit strategies.
- Strong Commercial Acumen: Exceptional commercial and strategic thinking, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights and drive commercial decisions.
- M&A Experience: Demonstrable experience in M&A transactions (due diligence, integration) is highly desirable.
- Leadership & Team Management: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing finance teams.
