We are seeking an experienced Interim Disrepair Manager to lead and manage disrepair casework within a housing organisation in the North West of England. This critical role will ensure that disrepair cases are handled efficiently, fairly, and in full compliance with relevant housing legislation and regulations. You will be responsible for driving improvements in service delivery, working collaboratively across teams to resolve cases, and protecting the organisation from legal and financial risk.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead on all aspects of housing disrepair case management, from initial complaint through to resolution.
Ensure timely investigation and resolution of cases in line with legal frameworks, internal policies, and best practice.
Coordinate and manage relationships with solicitors, surveyors, contractors, and internal departments.
Provide expert advice and guidance on disrepair issues, including Section 11 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 and Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018.
Prepare robust case files and documentation for legal proceedings and settlement negotiations.
Monitor and report on disrepair performance indicators and case trends.
Implement and improve policies and procedures to reduce legal disrepair claims.
Train and support operational teams in understanding their responsibilities related to disrepair.
Essential Experience and Skills:
Proven track record of managing disrepair cases within a social housing or local authority setting.
In-depth knowledge of housing law, particularly landlord obligations under disrepair legislation.
Strong understanding of the disrepair claims process and relevant pre-action protocols.
Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.
Ability to work autonomously and deliver results under tight deadlines.
