Interim Disposals Surveyor
Location:Â South East (Hybrid/ 3 Days on Site)
Contract: 6 months
Rate: £450–£500 per dayÂ
Our council client in the Southeast is seeking an experienced Interim Disposals Surveyor to support its property team on a 6-month contract.
This role will focus on managing an open property portfolio across the Council’s estate, with responsibility for assessing sites and making recommendations on disposal, transfer, or retention, including transfers to other local authorities or public sector bodies.
Key Responsibilities
Review and assess council-owned sites to determine appropriate disposal or transfer strategies
Lead on the disposal process, from initial appraisal through to completion
Manage and advise on transfers of land or property to other councils or public bodies
Liaise with legal teams, external advisors, and internal stakeholders
Ensure all disposals and transfers are compliant with statutory requirements and best practice
Provide clear, professional advice to support decision-making
Essential Experience & Skills
Proven experience in property disposals within a local authority or public sector environment
Strong understanding of conveyancing and property law, including the legal processes involved in transferring and disposing of land and assets
Ability to manage a varied and open-ended property portfolio
Confident stakeholder management and communication skills
Able to work independently and hit the ground running in an interim role
Desirable
MRICS or equivalent professional qualification
Experience working with inter-council or public sector asset transfers
