Interim Clerk of Works / Programme Manager

About the Role

Vivid are working with a council who are seeking an experienced interim to lead the delivery of its Fire Risk Reduction Plan. They have a backlog of approximately 2,000 overdue FRA remedial actions and require a capable programme manager with clerk of works experience to drive delivery, assure quality, and ensure full compliance over the next 9 months.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong contractor oversight, technical knowledge of fire safety remedial works, and the ability to coordinate internal operational teams.

What You’ll Deliver

  • Develop a detailed 9-month programme to clear all outstanding FRA actions.
  • Manage and monitor contractors delivering fire safety remedial works.
  • Carry out clerk of works inspections and provide compliance sign-off.
  • Issue and manage orders, variations, scopes and progress tracking.
  • Coordinate in-house management actions (PEEPs, rubbish clearance, PAT testing etc.).
  • Provide regular reporting, dashboards and evidence logs for audits and regulatory assurance.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong background in building safety, fire safety compliance, or property programmes.
  • Clerk of works experience — able to inspect, verify and challenge work on site.
  • Proven record of delivering large compliance backlogs or remedial programmes.
  • Excellent stakeholder coordination and communication skills.
  • Ability to work at pace and manage multiple sites.
