Mechanical Quality Inspector – Freelance (South of France)
Role Outline
- Execute witness inspections and manage hold‑point releases in line with the project Quality Control Plan and all technical/regulatory requirements.
- Review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for on‑site activities and Manufacturing & Inspection Plans (MIPs) for off‑site activities.
- Prepare Site Observation Reports (SORs) and ensure follow‑up on all Quality Supervision findings.
- Review construction contractors’ procedures and work instructions.
- Assess construction Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) and transversal NCRs, including reviewing corrective/remedial actions and validating closure evidence.
- Review Inspection Test Records (ITRs), mechanical completion work packages, and mechanical completion dossiers.
- Participate in or organize quality supervision coordination meetings and pre‑inspection meetings.
- Conduct construction surveillance activities as required.
- Escalate potential safety issues or critical quality concerns through the appropriate management channels.
- Report on inspection status, trends, and issues, including monitoring of ITP/MIP Intervention Point activities.
Candidate Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical quality inspection or precision engineering.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Strong skills in interpreting technical drawings, GD&T, and mechanical tolerances.
- Proficiency with metrology tools and inspection equipment (CMM, gauges, micrometers).
- Experience reviewing ITPs, MIPs, NCRs, ITRs, and construction documentation.
- Strong understanding of ISO‑based quality systems and construction quality processes.
- Fluent English (mandatory); French beneficial.
- Independent, detail‑oriented, and able to operate in technically demanding environments.
- Available to start immediately.
