Income Officer – Social Housing (Part-Time)
Location: Greater Manchester
Contract: 3 Months Temporary (Strong Potential to Be Extended)
Working Pattern: Part-Time, Hybrid (Home Working & Estate/Office Visits)

We are partnering with a well-regarded Housing Association in Greater Manchester who are looking to appoint an experienced Part-Time Income Officer. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone seeking flexible working while still playing a key role in supporting residents and maximising rental income.

Role Overview

As a Part-Time Income Officer, you will be responsible for managing rent accounts across a defined patch, working proactively to reduce arrears and support tenancy sustainment. You will take a customer-focused approach to income recovery, early intervention, and legal processes where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a patch of rent accounts across general needs and/or supported housing

  • Monitor rent arrears and take early action to prevent escalation

  • Contact residents to agree and maintain affordable repayment plans

  • Provide advice and support on welfare benefits, Universal Credit, and financial inclusion

  • Progress arrears cases through to legal action where necessary, including court attendance

  • Work closely with Housing Officers, Financial Inclusion teams, and external agencies

  • Maintain accurate rent account records, case notes, and documentation

  • Carry out home visits and attend meetings as required

About You

  • Previous experience as an Income Officer, Rent Officer, or similar (minimum 12–18 months)

  • Strong understanding of rent recovery, housing legislation, and welfare benefits

  • Confident managing arrears cases at various stages

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills

  • Experience supporting vulnerable residents and working with partner agencies

  • Comfortable lone-working and managing a varied caseload

  • Able to start on 5th January with no notice restrictions
