About the Client:
Our client is an international company developed into a widely distributed pharmaceutical construction client with activities and projects across Europe.
Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced freelance HSE Lead to join a major pharmaceutical construction project in Denmark. You will be responsible for coordinating all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) activities within the project organization and ensuring compliance with client, regulatory, and statutory requirements. This role involves close collaboration with the end-client’s HSE representatives and on-site teams to maintain the highest safety standards in a GMP construction environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all HSE-related activities across the project organization and liaise closely with the client’s HSE representatives.
- Conduct regular (weekly) safety rounds on site, identify potential hazards, and report findings.
- Lead and mentor the site-based HSE team to strengthen performance and promote a proactive HSE culture.
- Perform comprehensive risk assessments, identify workplace hazards, and develop mitigation or elimination strategies.
- Coordinate operations with other contractors to prevent the creation of additional hazards or unsafe conditions.
- Monitor, assess, and manage HSE risks to ensure consistent application of safe work methods.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory acts, regulations, and codes of practice.
- Conduct weekly safety meetings with project personnel and include HSE as a standing agenda item in management meetings.
- Prepare and submit weekly HSE performance reports to the general contractor, documenting HSE activities and outcomes.
- Translate site- or contract-specific tasks into effective Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and Safety Task Assignments.
- Provide ongoing support to operations to ensure all hazards associated with site activities are effectively identified and managed.
Candidate Requirements:
- 5–10 years’ experience in construction HSE management, supervision, or inspection.
- Proven experience in pharmaceutical or biotech construction projects
- Strong leadership skills with a hands-on, collaborative approach to working within construction teams (CM/SQM).
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).
- EU passport holder (mandatory requirement).
Contract Details
Location: On-site in the Copenhagen region, no accommodation provided
Duration: 6-12 months + potential extension based on project needs.
Rate: Competitive freelance daily rate based on experience and qualifications.
