Housing Options Officer – Resettlement & Asylum Support

About the Role

Are you experienced in the homelessness sector, particularly within resettlement teams? Have you worked in a Local Authority setting? We’re seeking a Housing Options Officer specialising in asylum support and resettlement to join our Local Authority in Sussex.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Conduct assessments and gather documentation for clients staying in a local hotel.
  • Identify housing pathways and facilitate referrals into move-on support.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies and internal teams to ensure smooth case transitions-though you won’t make homelessness decisions, you’ll refer cases to the prevention and relief teams.
  • Support clients’ transitions until handed over to the prevention/relief teams.

About You

  • Proven experience in housing, asylum support, or resettlement services.
  • Strong assessment, organisational, and coordination skills to manage multiple cases and partner relationships.
  • Good understanding of housing pathways and local authority structures.
  • Familiarity with Home Connections is advantageous.
