Housing Options Officer – West Midlands
📍 Hybrid Working – 2 Days per Week in the Office
📅 6-Month Contract
We’re currently supporting a Local Authority in the West Midlands with the recruitment of an experienced Housing Options Officer for an initial 6-month contract.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy and supportive team, working at the frontline of homelessness prevention and housing advice.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing a caseload of applicants under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017), providing high-quality housing advice and prevention options to residents at risk of homelessness.
Key responsibilities include:
Assessing homelessness applications and determining statutory duties
Creating and reviewing Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs)
Delivering prevention and relief duties in line with legislation
Conducting detailed interviews and making robust S184 decisions
Liaising with landlords, support agencies, and internal teams
Managing temporary accommodation placements where required
Ensuring accurate case recording and compliance with statutory timescales
About You
To be considered, you will have:
Proven experience working as a Housing Options / Homelessness Officer within a Local Authority
Strong working knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
Experience issuing S184 decision letters
The ability to manage a high-volume caseload effectively
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Working Pattern
Hybrid model – 2 days per week in the office
6-month initial contract with potential for extension
