Housing Options Officer – West Midlands
📍 West Midlands
📅 6-Month Contract
🏢 Hybrid Working – 2 Days per Week in the Office

We are currently supporting a local authority in the West Midlands seeking an experienced Housing Options Officer to join their team on a 6-month interim contract.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive homelessness professional with strong knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017) and experience managing a varied caseload.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting homelessness assessments and determining statutory duties

  • Providing housing advice and prevention/relief interventions

  • Managing a caseload in line with legislation and local procedures

  • Issuing legally sound decision letters (s184, s189A, s202 etc.)

  • Working in partnership with internal and external agencies

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a Housing Options/Homelessness Officer role

  • Strong working knowledge of relevant homelessness legislation

  • Experience working in a local authority setting

  • Ability to work independently and attend the office 2 days per week
