Freelance Group Head of Finance | Brussels | 3-Year Long-term project
Our client, a growing international services business, is seeking a Freelance Group Head of Finance to join their Brussels headquarters, replacing someone leaving the organisation.
This is a strategic 3-year assignment focused on driving financial performance, improving reporting and budgeting processes, optimising intercompany cash pooling structures, strengthening invoicing processes, and supporting future M&A initiatives.
Leading a local team of 5 finance professionals, you will act as a key business partner to management, delivering clear insights on revenue, project profitability, and gross margins across the group. Working within a unified ERP environment, you will help operational teams understand where the business is creating value, identify areas for improvement, and drive better decision-making.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Improving overall business performance and profitability across the group.
- Enhancing budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
- Managing and optimising intercompany cash pooling and treasury activities.
- Strengthening invoicing processes, cash collection and working capital management.
- Delivering reporting and analysis on revenue, project performance and gross margins.
- Identifying where projects and business units are generating or losing money and providing recommendations for improvement.
- Supporting the structuring and development of finance processes and teams.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for banks, external finance providers and treasury-related matters.
- Supporting M&A activities, due diligence and integration projects as part of the group’s growth strategy.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as (Group) Head of Finance, Finance Director, Group Controller, Finance Manager.
- Strong background within services-based organisations.
- Expertise in reporting, budgeting, forecasting and performance management.
- Experience analysing project profitability, revenue and gross margins.
- Strong ERP and business partnering capabilities.
- Treasury, cash management, invoicing and banking experience.
- Exposure to M&A processes is advantageous.
- Fluent English, French and Dutch.
Location: Brussels (4-5 days on-site)
