Our client is a well-established healthcare organisation looking for an experienced Freelance Systems Engineer to join their IT team. This is a broad, hands-on role for someone who is comfortable working across different areas of systems and infrastructure and can quickly become a reliable technical resource within the organisation.
The organisation is currently preparing to open a new day hospital, making the coming weeks an exceptionally busy period for the internal team. As a result, they do not have the capacity to properly onboard and support a new consultant immediately, with a start from early October being the earliest realistic opportunity.
The Role
As a Freelance Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the organisation’s wider IT environment, ensuring systems and infrastructure remain stable, secure and reliable.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and maintaining IT systems and infrastructure
- Monitoring system performance, availability and security
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues across the environment
- Supporting servers, networks and other infrastructure
- Implementing and configuring new systems and technologies
- Providing technical support for complex infrastructure issues
- Contributing to infrastructure improvements and IT projects
- Identifying opportunities to improve the stability and efficiency of the IT environment
- Working closely with colleagues across the IT team and wider organisation
About You
We are looking for a well-rounded Systems Engineer who is comfortable working across a varied technical environment and can take ownership of their responsibilities.
You will ideally have:
- Several years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer or similar
- Broad knowledge across systems, infrastructure and networking
- Experience managing and troubleshooting complex IT environments
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- A hands-on approach and the ability to work independently
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- The flexibility to work across a range of technical responsibilities
- Previous experience within a healthcare environment would be advantageous
