Freelance Product Owner (AI & Data)

Role Overview
As a AI Product Owner, you will act as the bridge between business strategy, process expertise, and AI-powered workflow solutions. You help clients in regulated industries identify high-value AI opportunities, translate processes into actionable AI workflows, and guide initiatives from pilot to full production. The role combines business consulting, process design, and AI-enabled transformation.
You will work closely with internal AI Architects, Data Engineers, as well as client-side stakeholders across Tax, Accountancy, Risk, Compliance, and Operations.
Key Responsibilities –
Use-Case Discovery & Value Assessment –
- Lead or support discovery sessions and client workshops to identify opportunities for AI-powered workflows.
- Build clear value cases for each use case, including time savings, quality improvements, and risk reduction.
Design Thinking & Process Design –
- Map “as-is” processes and translate them into AI-enabled workflows (steps, decision rules, controls).
- Formalise business and functional requirements and coordinate closely with AI/technical teams.
Pilot Execution & Implementation –
- Steer pilots from concept to production: scoping, planning, defining acceptance criteria, test approach, and go-live.
- Safeguard quality, explainability, traceability, and compliance with audit/regulatory standards.
Change & Adoption –
- Deliver or support demos, training, and onboarding for end users (e.g., tax advisors, accountants, KYC analysts).
- Capture and structure user feedback and feed it into product and engineering roadmaps.
Trusted Advisor –
- Advise clients on AI strategy, operating models, governance, and risk mitigation.
- Co-develop new workflow concepts and sector-specific offerings (e.g., KYC, objections handling, disclosure checklists, sustainability reporting).
Candidate Profile –
- 5+ years’ experience as a strategy consultant, business consultant, product owner, or project manager in a regulated environment (e.g. banking/insurance, legal/tax, consultancy).
- Strong affinity with AI and data-driven work; able to define logic, rules, and data flows without needing to code.
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills; able to simplify complex topics quickly.
- Experience with process design, operating models, and/or change management.
- Solid stakeholder management skills, comfortable engaging with senior leaders, IT teams, and end users.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch (spoken and written)

Rate: Competitive freelance daily rate based on experience and qualifications.
