Our client is a leading organisation within the logistics industry, operating in a complex industrial environment in Antwerp. They are looking for an experienced Freelance Senior Electrical Design Engineer to provide technical support on a part-time and ad hoc basis.
This is an ideal opportunity for a senior electrical engineer who enjoys working on technically challenging industrial installations and is looking for a flexible assignment alongside other projects.
The Role
As a Freelance Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will provide specialist support across electrical design and engineering activities, working on projects and technical requirements as they arise.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Developing and reviewing electrical designs for industrial installations
- Producing and reviewing single-line diagrams (SLDs), multi-line diagrams and electrical schematics
- Carrying out electrical calculations and power system studies
- Working across HV, MV and LV systems
- Supporting cable sizing, protection, earthing and short-circuit studies
- Preparing technical documentation including load lists, cable lists, equipment lists and design specifications
- Reviewing existing electrical installations and identifying improvements or corrective actions
- Reviewing and validating electrical designs produced by third parties
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant Belgian regulations and standards, including RGIE
- Supporting the specification and selection of electrical equipment
- Coordinating with suppliers, contractors and other engineering disciplines
- Providing technical input and advice to internal engineering teams when required
- Supporting projects from initial design through to implementation and commissioning
About You
We are looking for a senior-level electrical engineer who can operate independently and provide specialist expertise with minimal supervision.
You will ideally have:
- Significant experience in electrical design engineering, preferably within an industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of HV, MV and LV electrical systems
- Experience with electrical calculations, power studies and system design
- Strong experience producing and reviewing SLDs, schematics and electrical drawings
- Knowledge of RGIE and relevant Belgian electrical regulations
- Experience assessing existing installations and developing practical engineering solutions
- Experience coordinating with suppliers, contractors and other engineering disciplines
- The ability to review and validate third-party engineering work
- A practical, hands-on approach and strong attention to detail
- The ability to work independently and provide expert advice when required
Experience with tools such as Caneco, EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, Elec Calc or PowerFactory would be advantageous.
