Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Freelance Data Engineer with a data science background to support the delivery and maintenance of mission-critical data systems. This role is focused on ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of business-critical processes operating in a 24/7 environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and workflows in a highly available, always-on environment
- Support and optimise mission-critical data processes with a strong focus on uptime and reliability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, analysts, and product stakeholders
- Work with large-scale datasets to enable analytics, reporting, and data science use cases
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues in real-time or near real-time systems
- Contribute to continuous improvement of data platform architecture and processes
Candidate Requirements:
- Senior Data Engineer experience
- Proven experience working on business-critical systems with 24/7 operational requirements
- Strong hands-on expertise with:
Azure (data services ecosystem)
Databricks
Python
- Experience building and maintaining production-grade data pipelines
- Solid understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT processes, and distributed systems
- Ability to work independently in a freelance/contract capacity
