Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Freelance Business Development Expert to support our expansion into European and/or US defence markets. This is a remote, hourly-rate contract role for a seasoned professional with a proven track record of introducing entirely new technologies into armed forces and navigating complex procurement pathways.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue short-term pilot project opportunities with European and/or US armed forces.
- Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for novel defence technologies.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders in defence ministries, procurement agencies, and military innovation units.
- Guide internal teams on procurement processes, timelines, and compliance requirements.
- Lead proposal development and support contract negotiations for pilot projects.
- Provide strategic insights into market dynamics, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities.
Required Experience
- Demonstrated success in selling new-to-market technologies into defence organisations.
- Deep understanding of defence procurement pathways, especially for short-term pilot and innovation projects.
- Existing network within European or US defence procurement bodies.
- Experience working with startups or scale-ups in the defence or dual-use technology space.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
