Visit, inspect, and provide reports on designated premises subject to food hygiene legislation, adhering to the Food Law Code of Practice (England) and the Food Standard Food Hygiene Rating Scheme Brand Standard. Investigate complaints, monitor ongoing activities at relevant establishments, and conduct revisits as per the Food Law Code of Practice. Support the training of fellow officers, offer business advice, guidance, and support to foster compliance, and take formal action when necessary. Conduct re-inspections under the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme as required.
Contribute to broader service objectives, ensuring a flexible and responsive regulatory service. Undertake duties assigned by the Business Compliance Team Manager. Collaborate with team members, Local Authorities, Government agencies, statutory and voluntary bodies, other departments, the commercial sector, and the general public as needed.
- Environmental Health Registration Board registration or Chartered Status at the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health or an equivalent qualification enabling full engagement in food hygiene interventions outlined in the Food Law Code of Practice.
- Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, preferably within the public sector.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge and application of legislation governing food safety and health & safety.
- Proven track record of effective collaboration with partners and stakeholders.
- Experience in delivering high standards of customer care.
- Substantial experience in regulation and enforcement.
- Handling and protecting sensitive and confidential information.
