A council near Kent is urgently seeking a qualified Food Safety Consultant to carry out 600 paid food hygiene inspections of C-D rated premises. This is a flexible opportunity, open to both full-time and part-time professionals (minimum 21 hours/week), with an immediate start available.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct statutory food hygiene inspections in accordance with the FSA Code of Practice
- Assess and rate food premises based on hygiene standards and risk
- Submit accurate and timely inspection reports to the council
- Liaise with food business operators and escalate enforcement actions if required
- Maintain professional standards and contribute to public health protection
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent
- Registered with the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) or equivalent
- Must meet the FSA’s Competent Person criteria for food hygiene inspections
- CPD-compliant and up-to-date with current food safety legislation
- Previous experience conducting inspections for local authorities
- Strong understanding of food law, HACCP, and risk-based inspection methodology
