Interim Finance Controller – Freelance (8 months)

We are seeking an experienced Interim Finance Controller to support the Ghent-based finance team for a well-known client in Ghent. This is an 8-month freelance assignment, bridging the period while a permanent recruitment process is underway. The role is operational and hands-on, with a strong focus on compliance and financial controlling rather than purely strategic oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Working on packaging reporting compliance
- Support dividend distribution processes, including collaboration with auditors on liquidity testing
- Assist with tax compliance, including transfer pricing reporting
- Manage general finance controlling activities:
- Bookings and monthly closing
- Coordination with Shared Service Centre (transactional activities handled centrally a plus)
- Oversee financial activities related to two joint ventures, including corrections and commercial rebate activities (a plus)
- Contribute to KPI dashboard reporting (Power BI)
- Ensure timely, accurate reporting and proactively anticipate deadlines and compliance requirements
- Work closely with remote stakeholders and international teams
Profile
- 4–5 years of experience in controlling/finance controlling, ideally in Belgium with exposure to remote or international entities
- Strong understanding of Belgian compliance and reporting requirements
- Experience with SAP (mandatory)
- Proficient in Power BI (strong asset)
- Experience working with auditors, tax compliance, and transfer pricing
- Structured, proactive, and able to anticipate deadlines and deliverables
- Fluent in English (mandatory) and strong written and spoken Dutch
