Freelance Finance Manager Position
The mission is to strengthen financial governance, ensure accurate and timely reporting under BE GAAP, and provide hands-on leadership across accounting and controlling activities.
As a Freelance Financial Manager, you will act as the right hand to the CEO and ownership, balancing strategic financial oversight with day-to-day operational involvement. The environment is collaborative and dynamic, requiring a strong communicator who can bridge finance and operations effectively.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a small finance team, ensuring clear task allocation and development.
Take full ownership of BE GAAP accounting, including general ledger management, reconciliations, and accuracy of financial data.
Perform and oversee month-end and year-end closings, ensuring deadlines are met with high-quality deliverables.
Drive controlling activities: budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and margin analysis tailored to the automotive sector.
Maintain a hands-on approach—actively involved in accounting entries, corrections, and process improvements.
Act as a key financial business partner to the CEO and stakeholders, providing insights and supporting decision-making.
Improve financial processes, internal controls, and reporting structures to increase efficiency and transparency.
Ensure smooth collaboration between finance and other departments (operations, sales, logistics).
Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial performance indicators.
Support potential system or process enhancements within finance.
Requirements for the Candidate
Experience & Skills
Proven experience as a Financial Manager or Senior Finance Professional in a hands-on environment.
Strong expertise in BE GAAP, with the ability to independently manage full-cycle accounting.
Solid background in both controlling and accounting (GL), with a pragmatic, operational mindset.
Demonstrated experience in team management and leadership.
Ability to work closely with senior stakeholders.
Technologies
Experience with ERP systems (exact system flexibility required).
Advanced Excel skills; ability to handle and interpret complex datasets.
Soft Skills
Strong communication and cooperation skills; able to build trust across all levels of the organization.
Hands-on, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset.
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Language
Fluent in Dutch (mandatory).
Nice to Have
Prior experience within the automotive industry.
Experience in SMEs.
