Environmental Health Officer

I’m hiring on behalf of a busy and vibrant Local Authority situated in the heart of Hampshire, who are a seeking an Environmental Protection Officer to join their team for an initial 6-month contract.

About the role:

Environmental Protection Officer

Location – Hampshire

Contact length – 6 months

Rate – £40 + an hour

Working arrangements – Flexible and on site basis, ideally 3 times a week

They require an experienced Environmental Protection Officer to undertake a caseload involving a variety of environmental concerns, ranging from investigating statutory nuisances, to professionally consulting on the environmental impacts of Planning Applications.

Your role and responsibility:

  • Inspecting statutory nuisances impacting the community, including noise complaints and pollution matters such as smoke, odour, and light
  • Advise on the environmental impact of planning applications within the Borough
  • If necessary, serving Enforcement notices and gathering evidence in preparation for the legal process

You must have a sound understanding of statutory nuisance legislation and practical experience conducting this within a Local Authority environment.

Professional requirements:

  • A degree/diploma in Environmental Health
  • Experience working in Environmental Protection within a Local Authority
