PROJECT ENGINEER – BRUSSELS REGION (BELGIUM) – PERMANENT POSITION

We are seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer with an electromechanical background to support the installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing of complex technical systems.
Â
In this role, you will manage projects from preparation through final customer handover, ensuring that all electromechanical equipment is installed safely, tested thoroughly, and delivered to the highest quality standards.
Â
You will work closely with internal engineering teams, contractors, and customers, serving as the technical lead on-site and the primary point of contact during installation and system acceptance.

This position requires strong technical expertise, excellent coordination skills, and the ability to resolve issues quickly in a dynamic project environment.

Key Responsibilities
Â
- Review technical specifications, engineering drawings, and customer requirements to plan installation and commissioning activities.
- Develop project schedules, installation plans, and resource needs.
- Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and internal engineering teams to ensure all materials and technical documentation are ready prior to site work.
- Participate in project meetings, providing updates on technical readiness and execution plans.
- Oversee and support the installation of electromechanical systems, ensuring all work meets engineering standards, safety requirements, and project documentation.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance to installation teams and subcontractors.
- Identify and resolve technical challenges encountered during installation.
- Develop, perform, and document commissioning procedures, functional checks, and system performance tests.
- Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) with customers.
- Diagnose and fix issues discovered during testing, ensuring all components and subsystems function as intended.
- Prepare final acceptance documentation and obtain customer approval.
- Maintain thorough records including installation reports, as-built documentation, punch lists, and test reports.
- Provide technical input for operation and maintenance manuals.
- Support the project manager with progress reporting, risk identification, and technical status updates.
- Ensure all installation and commissioning activities comply with company quality standards, industry codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct and participate in safety assessments, tool-box talks, and adherence to safe work procedures (e.g., LOTO, risk assessments).
- Monitor workmanship quality and enforce corrective actions when required.
- Act as the technical contact for customers throughout installation and acceptance phases.
- Provide training to customer personnel on system operation and basic troubleshooting.
- Support follow-up service activities when needed.

Qualifications
Â
- Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with installation, commissioning, or testing of electromechanical systems (industrial equipment, automation, machinery, HVAC, or similar).
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, electrical components, instrumentation, and controls.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring schematics, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues on-site.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational skills.
- Experience working in industrial environments or construction sites.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and safety procedures.
- Basic knowledge of PLCs, sensors, actuators, and automation systems is an advantage.
- Ability to travel to customer sites as required.
