We currently recruiting for an Electrical Designer who will focus on the design and build of custom machines. The primary responsibility of this role is the creation of electrical schematics and documentation, covering control panels, machine wiring, and field devices.

This is a practical, hands-on engineering role within a machine-building environment. In addition to design work, the Electrical Designer will work closely with technicians and engineers on the shop floor during panel build, machine assembly, testing, and commissioning. The role requires a strong understanding of how electrical designs are physically implemented and the ability to adapt designs based on real-world build conditions.

You will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through build, testing, and final as-built documentation, ensuring electrical systems are safe, functional, and efficient. This role suits someone who enjoys combining detailed electrical design with active collaboration in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical schematics using EPLAN for custom-built machines
  • Produce wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and complete electrical documentation
  • Select electrical components and define hardware in line with project requirements and standards
  • Work closely with mechanical designers, automation engineers, and shop-floor technicians
  • Provide electrical support during panel build, wiring, machine assembly, and testing
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during build and commissioning
  • Update and maintain schematics to reflect as-built conditions
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical and safety standards
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of electrical design standards and templates

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience using EPLAN for electrical schematic design
  • Background in electrical design for machinery, industrial equipment, or automation systems
  • Good understanding of industrial electrical components (PLC I/O, drives, sensors, safety systems, etc.)
  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Practical, hands-on approach with willingness to work on the shop floor
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines
