Democratic Services Officer – Surrey – Locum Contract
6 Months + | Rate Subject to Candidate | Hybrid
Vivid are working with a council in Surrey who are on the lookout for an experienced Democratic Services Officer to join their team on an interim basis.
This is a great opportunity to make an immediate impact within a supportive and fast-paced local government environment.
The role:
Providing high-quality support for council committees, panels, and working groups
Preparing agendas, reports, and minutes in line with statutory requirements
Advising elected members and officers on governance procedures
Managing webcasting, hybrid meetings, and public engagement processes
Supporting constitutional reviews and democratic governance projects
What we’re looking for:
Strong background in democratic services / committee administration within local government
Excellent knowledge of the Local Government Act and related legislation
Confident minute-taker with a keen eye for detail
Comfortable liaising with elected members and senior officers
Flexible, proactive, and able to hit the ground running
The offer:
6-month initial contract (likely to extend)
Competitive day rate (inside IR35)
Hybrid working – 1-2 days on-site in Surrey
