Control Engineer

We’re working with a fast-growing renewable energy scale-up in Ghent, looking for a skilled Control Engineer to help shape their flexible power systems. You will be vital in ensuring that the company’s battery inverters, sensors, and power-control technologies operate efficiently, no matter the scale of installation.

You should be an individual who combines strong control-systems expertise with a modern software/DevOps mindset and a passion for clean, reliable energy technology.

Responsibilities

• Configure and optimise inverter behaviour using advanced inverter-control tools. Ensure battery inverters interface correctly with sensors and monitoring systems across varying system sizes.
• Work with P1 smart-meter protocols and related data interfaces to enable accurate communication between meters, sensors, and the control platform.
• Develop generator control logic and ensure stable operation under diverse load conditions and integration scenarios.
• Implement control loops for Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVRs) and frequency regulation systems to ensure grid-compliant operation.
• Design control solutions that scale from small home systems to complex large-scale installations.
• Use modern engineering practices such as version control, CI/CD, testing frameworks, automation to build control software.

Your Profile

• Experience with inverter control tools and platforms.
• Familiarity with P1 or other smart-meter interfaces.
• Strong understanding of control theory for generators, AVRs, and frequency management.
• Comfortable working on both software and hardware-adjacent problems.
• A proactive problem-solver with a passion for renewable energy.
• Experience in a scale-up or fast-moving environment is a bonus.
