Locum Contracts & Procurement Solicitor
Location: East Midlands (Remote Working)
Rate: Competitive (Outside IR35)
Contract Length: 6 months initially

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Contracts & Procurement Solicitor to join a well-structured and supportive local authority legal team in the East Midlands on a locum basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising on and drafting a wide range of commercial contracts, including JCT and NEC construction contracts.

  • Providing clear and practical legal advice on public procurement law, including tendering and compliance.

  • Advising on subsidy control matters and supporting colleagues on related governance issues.

  • Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing a variety of commercial agreements to support major projects.

  • Managing a varied caseload with minimal supervision and contributing to effective risk management.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with strong experience in contracts and procurement law.

  • Demonstrable background in public sector work, ideally within a local authority.

  • Strong understanding of JCT and NEC contracts, as well as public procurement regulations.

  • Experience advising on subsidy control is highly desirable.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a busy in-house team.
