🚧 Interim Class 3 Building Control Surveyor – £85/hr – Essex – 6-Month Contract (High Extension Potential) 🚧
We are currently seeking an experienced Class 3 Building Control Surveyor for an interim role with a leading Essex council. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and proactive team, offering £85 per hour on an initial 6-month contract – with a strong likelihood of extension based on performance and project needs.
🔍 Role Overview:
You will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of complex commercial and residential projects (up to and including high-rise developments), ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and safety standards. You’ll work closely with internal departments, developers, architects, and contractors to deliver a first-class building control service.
✅ Key Responsibilities:
Assess and process Full Plans, Building Notices, and Regularisation applications
Conduct site inspections and monitor compliance at key construction stages
Provide expert technical advice and guidance to stakeholders
Maintain up-to-date records and issue statutory notices where necessary
Enforce building regulations in line with legislative requirements
🎯 Requirements:
Class 3 Registration under the Building Safety Regulator (BSR)
Proven experience in complex building control environments
Up-to-date knowledge of UK Building Regulations and legislation
Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
Able to work independently and manage your own caseload effectively
📍 Location:
Essex-based – flexible site coverage required (hybrid working available)
💼 Contract Details:
Rate: £85 per hour (Outside IR35)
Contract Length: 6 months initially
Extension: High potential for long-term continuation
Start: ASAP
