Overview

A large enterprise infrastructure organization is seeking a Principal CICS Systems Programmer to provide technical leadership across CICS Transaction Server environments on z/OS. This role focuses on platform stability, data replication, disaster recovery, and the ongoing evolution of mission-critical transaction systems supporting high-volume business applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level technical leadership for CICS TS infrastructure and associated data replication environments

  • Provision, maintain, and enhance CICS regions, CICSPlex, and supporting z/OS components

  • Support VSAM replication, VSAM RLS, and disaster recovery strategies

  • Perform deep diagnostics and analysis using CICS system dumps, IPCS, and related tooling

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain CICS and related z/OS products

  • Advise engineering leadership and stakeholders on technical strategy and infrastructure improvements

  • Lead complex, cross-team initiatives in production-critical environments

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to systems programming and infrastructure teams

Required Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent professional experience

  • Extensive experience in CICS Systems Programming within large-scale z/OS environments

  • Proven technical leadership experience (8+ years preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of z/OS, CICS, JCL, SMP/E, VSAM, and RACF

  • Experience with CPSM / CICSPlex, VSAM Replication, and VSAM RLS

  • Proficiency with diagnostic and debugging tools such as IPCS, Abend-AID, and Intertest

  • Working knowledge of Assembler, COBOL, and/or REXX

  • Familiarity with scheduling and integration tools (e.g., Control-M)

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
