Job Title: Chief Accountant (Freelance)

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced freelance Chief Accountant to oversee and manage the full accounting function of a Belgian entity. This is a hands-on role combining operational accounting, financial oversight, and team supervision in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

• Supervise and support a team of 4 accounting professionals
• Ensure continuity and efficiency of daily accounting operations
• Provide structure, guidance, and oversight to the team

Accounting & Reporting

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
• Ensure accurate financial reporting in line with Belgian standards
• Oversee statutory accounts and required declarations

Tax & Compliance

• Supervise VAT processes, including subsidiary VAT reporting
• Ensure compliance with Belgian tax and regulatory requirements

Treasury & Financial Operations

• Oversee treasury activities and cash flow management
• Manage multi-currency transactions and foreign exchange exposure

Candidate Profile

Experience

• Proven experience as a Chief Accountant or Senior Accountant (freelance experience is a plus)
• Strong end-to-end accounting expertise within Belgium
• Experience managing or supervising accounting teams

Skills & Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP, VAT, and compliance requirements
• Experience with treasury and multi-currency environments
• Familiarity with accounting systems (experience with Adfinity is a strong advantage)

Languages

• French: Mandatory
• English: Preferred

Engagement Details

• Long-term freelance assignment
• Hybrid working model: 4 days per week on-site
• Daily rate: dependent on experience
