About the Client:
Our client is a leading engineering client who specialise in Infrastructure projects for both public and private clients, mainly relating to building construction or roadworks across the Flemish part of Belgium.
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced freelance Calculator/Cost Engineer to join the tender team as a senior member of the team. Taking tenders, ensuring the price settings are correct, preparing all tender documents and proposing the tender to win the project, before handing over the execution team. There will be a mixture of larger and smaller tenders all relating to infrastructure engineering projects, where knowledge of TB250 will be essential. You can choose to operate out of the clients Antwerp, Heusden-Zolder or Brussels office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in the tendering office to prepare tenders for infrastructure works mainly relating to roadworks projects.
- Deal with tenders from both private and public clients, all tender documents are in Dutch.
- Take the tenders and manage them, calculating and ensuring the price settings are correct, prepare all tender documents, ensure all in line with Belgian technical specifications (TB250) before proposing the tender.
- If the tender is won, pass this onto the project execution teams.
- Essentially act as a Project Manager for tenders, handle them end-to-end until won/lost.
- Understand what would be needed and available resourcing wise, and how much the tenders would cost etc.. the tenders will vary in size and complexity, so your role is ever changing.
- Participate in a weekly tender team meeting where you will discuss ongoing tenders, offer advice, help select who will work on which tender and finalise the plan for the week.
- Work closely with the team for collaboration on tenders, but also aim to upskill junior members of the team.
- Collaborate in person with all individuals who may need to get involved on the tender.
Candidate Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a Calculator/Cost Engineer for Engineering Infrastructure Projects in Belgium.
- Knowledge of Belgian Technical Specifications/Belgian Infrastructure Market.
- Knowledge of TB250.
- Fluent Dutch.
