Business Controller – Financial Services (ERP Transformation / Regulatory Reporting)

Confidential finance company based in Brussels is seeking an experienced Business Controller with a strong background in financial and regulatory reporting within the banking or financial services sector. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical knowledge of reporting frameworks with proven experience in change and transformation projects, particularly around ERP system implementation and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the key financial control and reporting partner for the business, ensuring accurate and timely financial and regulatory reporting in line with local and ECB standards.
- Lead and support the implementation and optimisation of ERP transformation projects – bridging finance, IT, and operations to ensure effective integration of financial and reporting processes.
- Prepare and review statutory, management, and regulatory reports, including liquidity, capital adequacy, and risk-related reporting.
- Ensure compliance with Basel III/IV requirements and European Central Bank (ECB) regulatory expectations.
- Analyse and interpret financial data to support decision-making, budget control, and performance management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, Risk, Treasury, IT, Compliance) to align business and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in and sometimes lead change management projects focused on improving processes, systems, and controls.
- Provide strategic insights on financial performance and contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in financial control, business control, or reporting within the banking or financial services sector.
- Strong knowledge of Basel framework, liquidity reporting, and ECB regulatory standards.
- Hands-on experience with financial and regulatory reporting tools and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Proven track record in ERP transformation or finance system migration projects.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders in a fast-changing regulatory environment.
- Fluency in English and Dutch required. French a bonus.
