Interim Building Control Manager (Class 2F / Class 4+ Registered Building Inspector)

12-Month Rolling Contract | £80–£100 per hour (DOE/Competency) | Hybrid Working

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Interim Building Control Manager to join a well-established Local Authority in the West Midlands on a 12-month rolling contract.

We are seeking a highly competent Building Control professional with Class 2F / Class 4+ Registered Building Inspector (RBI) status to lead an experienced Building Control team, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, compliant, and customer-focused service.

The Role

As Interim Building Control Manager, you will:

  • Provide operational leadership and day-to-day management of the Building Control service.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of Registered Building Inspectors and technical staff.
  • Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act, Building Regulations, and all associated legislation.
  • Oversee complex and high-risk projects, providing expert technical guidance where required.
  • Manage performance, service delivery, and statutory obligations.
  • Build strong relationships with developers, contractors, residents, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support service improvement initiatives and contribute to strategic planning.

Requirements

  • Class 2F or Class 4+ Registered Building Inspector (RBI) registration (essential).
  • Significant Building Control management experience within a Local Authority environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of current Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, and associated legislation.
  • Proven ability to manage teams and drive service performance.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to hit the ground running in a fast-paced local government setting.
