An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Interim Building Control Manager to join a well-established Local Authority in the West Midlands on a 12-month rolling contract.
We are seeking a highly competent Building Control professional with Class 2F / Class 4+ Registered Building Inspector (RBI) status to lead an experienced Building Control team, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, compliant, and customer-focused service.
The Role
As Interim Building Control Manager, you will:
- Provide operational leadership and day-to-day management of the Building Control service.
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of Registered Building Inspectors and technical staff.
- Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act, Building Regulations, and all associated legislation.
- Oversee complex and high-risk projects, providing expert technical guidance where required.
- Manage performance, service delivery, and statutory obligations.
- Build strong relationships with developers, contractors, residents, and internal stakeholders.
- Support service improvement initiatives and contribute to strategic planning.
Requirements
- Class 2F or Class 4+ Registered Building Inspector (RBI) registration (essential).
- Significant Building Control management experience within a Local Authority environment.
- Extensive knowledge of current Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, and associated legislation.
- Proven ability to manage teams and drive service performance.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to hit the ground running in a fast-paced local government setting.
