Job Title: Automation Engineer
Location: 2x Sites (Halle and Wommelgem) in Belgium, split work across both (50% on either site, either 1 week rotation between sites or 50% on each site per week).
Normal Working Schedule: 40 hours per week (8 hours per day, 5 days per week)
Project: Automation Engineering on different machines produced for various clients to deliver machines based on client needs.
Start Date: September 2026

About the Client:
Our client is a multinational company who make machines to be used for clients across multiple industries, most commonly in the Pharmaceutical sector. The two sites predominantly create Pill Pressing machines and provides a workshop for their clients to come and use them to create new drugs. You’ll predominantly work on machines based on to the end-to-end customer order, machine and product development for drug creation based on powder to fully formed pill.
Role Overview:
We are seeking for an Automation engineer with skills in Siemens Tia Portal Programming and knowledge of WinCC Scada.
Key Responsibilities:
- Join 2x Automation Engineer teams to support with engineering across 2x major in-house processes (1 connects end-to-end for customers order to completion of product ordered (powder to pill creation, 1 connects with another location of the client) to work on various machines based on client requirements.
- 60% of the position will be coding and 40% will be documenting changes after they’ve been made and working on documentation fore new intitiatives coming up.
- The technologies you will work with are Siemens Tia Portal Progamming (PLC used), WinCC (Scada/HMI used). But you can also work with Schneider drivers, .Net Programming (VBA.Net, WPF, .Net framework 4.8.1 currently being used), SQL (making queries, modifying values) but these aren’t mandatory and are if you would like to work on them.
- The position related to new initiatives, maintanence & changes to existing machines, the role is mainly working on programming physical machines in the workshops located in Wommelgem and Halle.
- Tasks include (but aren’t limited to) preparing configurations for new machines. Introduce new features, mofidying coding etc..
and developing client (and pharma industry) specific requests/changes. - The team is made up of like-minded automation engineers, and it is important to have open communication, be a team player, and work together with your colleagues to achieve an optimal solution.
- The position is also client facing, so you must be able to discuss requirements and explain changes made with the clients coming to use the machines and full platform, and work together with them to ensure the platform is set up to the client and industry specific needs.
- Work in a continuous improvement mindset, looking for new changes and upgrades to make, which you can then implement.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience in PLC Programming (specifically on Siemens Tia Portal PLC).
- Knowledge of Scada and specifically WinCC.
- 10+ years of work experience and a minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
- English speaking
Contract Details
Location: Halle & Wommelgem, Belgium (50% onsite at each location, either 1 week in Halle and the next week in Wommelgem, or 50% of the week in Halle and 50% of the week in Wommelgem)
Duration: 12 months (extendable – 5 year project)
