Are you ready to take a leadership role in a well-respected planning consultancy with a strong presence across the South of England? We’re looking for a commercially astute and experienced Associate Planning Director to head up high-profile projects and play a key role in the growth of our client’s Bournemouth office.
This is a rare opportunity to shape both the built environment and the strategic direction of a thriving consultancy team.
The Role:
As Associate Planning Director, you will manage a varied portfolio of residential, commercial, and mixed-use schemes, guiding clients through complex planning processes while supporting and mentoring junior team members. You’ll also contribute to business development and help lead client relationships and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the preparation and submission of major planning applications and appeals
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders
Lead on planning strategy, project management, and policy interpretation
Provide leadership and mentorship to junior planners within the team
Identify and pursue new business opportunities and contribute to company growth
Represent the consultancy at public inquiries, hearings, and community consultations
What We’re Looking For:
MRTPI qualified with significant experience in consultancy or a related planning environment
Proven track record of delivering complex projects across sectors
Strong leadership skills and commercial awareness
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities
In-depth understanding of national and local planning policy, particularly across the South Coast region
