ASC Debt Recovery Lawyer

Locum Opportunity – Adult Social Care Debt Recovery Lawyer

We’re working with a North West Local Authority seeking an experienced Debt Recovery Lawyer to join their legal team on an interim basis.

The details:

  • Location: North West Council (remote working)

  • Contract: Locum / Interim – Ongoing

  • Hours: Full-time (part-time considered)

  • Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience

The role:

  • Managing a caseload of adult social care debt recovery matters, including cases involving unpaid residential care and community care charges.

  • Advising internal departments on legal processes relating to financial recovery.

  • Issuing and defending proceedings in the County Court and High Court where required.

  • Drafting pleadings, witness statements and other court documentation.

  • Negotiating settlements and representing the authority in hearings.

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across legal, finance, and social care teams.

What we’re looking for:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX.

  • Previous experience in debt recovery, ideally within adult social care or local government.

  • Strong litigation skills and confident handling contested proceedings.

  • Clear communicator, able to provide practical advice in a local authority setting.
