About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Associate to join our client’s Planning team. This is an exciting opportunity for a chartered planner to lead on a variety of projects across England, Scotland, and Wales. The successful candidate will possess strong technical knowledge and experience across residential and mixed-use developments, with a focus on strategic, brownfield, and Green Belt/grey belt land in and around Greater London.
Essential Requirements
Educational Attainment
MRTPI (Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute)
Knowledge
In-depth understanding of the planning system in England, Scotland, and Wales, including relevant legislation, policy frameworks, and development management procedures
Proven ability to deliver planning advice through various formats – including appraisals, pre-application submissions, and planning applications
Strategic thinking with strong communication skills to articulate planning strategy across sectors
Experience
Project experience ranging from minor to major residential schemes
Experience with brownfield sites and Green Belt/grey belt land, particularly in and around Greater London
Leading or contributing significantly to design team meetings (DTMs), local planning authority (LPA) discussions, and client meetings
Skills and Aptitudes
Exceptional organisational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines
Strong written communication and technical planning skills
Project management experience, including coordination of consultant teams and internal team members
Proven client service capabilities: responsive, proactive, and commercially astute
Ability to deliver commercially focused planning advice tailored to a range of clients and development outcomes

Self-motivated, adaptable, and intuitive in dynamic environments
Circumstances
Willing to work flexible hours
Full, clean UK driving licence
Desirable Criteria
Knowledge
Specialist planning knowledge in one or more areas such as:
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
Heritage and conservation
Economic assessments
Green Belt policy
Land/site promotion
Retail or healthcare sectors
Experience
Engagement with the Greater London Authority (GLA) and other LPAs
Experience working with national housebuilders
Involvement in public consultations and Planning Committee presentations
Background in sectors such as living, commercial, and healthcare
Experience in line management, delegation, and understanding of project/team budgets
Skills
Confident public speaker
